Nilofar Shidmehr

A BC Book-nominated writer, poet, research-creation scholar, and educator, Nilofar Shidmehr writes in English and Persian. She is the author of eight books of poetry and short fiction, as well as a children’s book. She is also the editor and curator of Rainbows on Rugged Terrains: Poetics of Queer Iranians in Exile and the editor of two Iranian editions of The Bombay Review.
Dr. Shidmehr has served as Writer-in-Residence three times at institutions across Canada. She teaches creative writing, as well as courses on the history, geopolitics, literature, and cinema of modern Iran, in the Liberal Arts program at Simon Fraser University. She lives in Vancouver with her husband. In their spare time, they enjoy international travel, visiting art exhibitions and museums, attending book events and public lectures, and seeing local and international productions on stage and screen.
