بدری، داستان راوی سی و چند ساله‌ای‌ست که خرج زندگی‌اش را از روابط عاشقانه با زنان ثروتمند درمی‌آورد. زنانی که به هر دلیل دوست دارند با جوانی وقت بگذرانند و چه بهتر که این جوان بیکار باشد و عاشق‌پیشه. در همان صفحه‌های اولْ راوی با بدری آشنا می‌شود و در رابطه‌ی جدیدی که دارد شکل می‌گیرد به این فکر می‌افتد که دروغ‌های عاشقانه‌ای که برای سرگرم کردن و تیغ زدن زن‌ها به کار می‌بَرَد دیگر برایش دلپذیر نیست. حالا می‌خواهد در رابطه با بدری، کار دیگری کند، دروغی که بتواند زندگی‌اش را تغییر دهد. آنچه در تمام طول داستان اتفاق می‌افتد، تلاش راوی برای یافتن این «کار دیگر» است و خواننده در رویاویی با این تلاش است که به ظرافت‌های شخصیت راوی، بدری، و رابطه‌ی پیچیده‌ی آن‌ها پی‌می‌برد.

بهروز بدخشان در روایتش از شهری که با دوستان و بدری در آن پرسه می‌زند، اصفهان، زاینده‌رود، و محله‌ی وحید یا همان «صحراروغن» را به‌تصویر می‌کشد، به ساکنین بی‌صدای این محله‌ی قدیمی صدا می‌بخشد و آن‌ها را از نگاه کسی که از آن‌هاست و در میان آن‌ها زندگی کرده است تحلیل می‌کند. رمان بدری، کنکاش نویسنده در رابطه‌هایش با آدم‌ها، خودش، و همچنین محله‌ای که در آن بزرگ شده است و حالا اصفهان مدرن دارد آن را فرومی‌بلعد.

در غروب دلگیر و بارانی یکی از روزهای آگوست به این سرزمین پا گذاشتیم. هواپیما در فرودگاهی کوچک فرود آمده بود که با تمام تصورات ما از غرب پیشرفته و پر زرق و برق تفاوت داشت. چمدان‌های پر از حسرتمان را تحویل گرفتیم و با پرس‌و‌جو ایستگاه اتوبوس خلوت را در گوشه‌ای دور افتاده پیدا کردیم.

مسافرت کردن به سرزمین‌های بیگانه لذت کشف دارد. کشف بهترین‌های آن خاک. آثار باستانی یا موزه‌ها، فستیوال‌ها و رستوران‌ها. اما مهاجرت به همان سرزمین پر از هراس‌هاییست از جنس نتوانستن‌ها. در راه فرودگاه تا هتل از پنجره اتوبوس به دشت سبز یکدستی زل زده بودم که با منظره‌های آشنای زادگاهم سراسر متفاوت بود و زبانی را می‌شنیدم که جز چند کلمه‌ای در گوشم سراسر بیگانه بود. انگار که تمام آنچه که آموخته بودم از دنیای دیگری باشد. تردید که در لحظه خروج در دلمان جوانه کرد، درخت تناوری شده بود… راهی را که طی می‌کنیم انتخاب درستی بوده است آیا؟

خستگی تن چنان در تخت هتل مچاله‌مان کرد که هراس صبح فردا را از یادمان برد. از فردایش، روزهای خیلی سخت آمدند و به دیروز تبدیل شدند. شکست خوردن‌ها را یاد گرفتیم و برخاستن‌ها را. تا حالایی که دلهایمان پر از خاطره گذشته‌ها شده است.

امروز که این چند خط را می‌نویسم  مقابلم نشسته‌ای و در دنیای خودت بازی می‌کنی. از اینجا صورتت را می‌بینم. چشمانت را که بی‌شباهت به چشمان من نیست. موهایم زمانی شبیه تو بود و چند‌تایی از عادت‌هایت میراث کوچک من بوده است. گویی در آینه‌ای جادویی خودم را می‌بینم که نوجوان شده‌ام. پوست سرم دوباره پوشیده از موهای سیاه شده باشد و بجای آنچه گذشت، روزهای روشن پیش رویم باشد. چه خیالی …

با اینحال زندگی پیش روی تو برای من مسیری نزدیک به مقصد است. امروز که هستم و هر روز که به گذشته‌ام اضافه میشود شاید نه فرصتی و نه توانی برای بازگو کردن قصه‌ام باقی نماند. این شد که تصمیم گرفتم  جایی برایت بنویسمشان. 

شاید هیچوقت نگاه کنجکاوت تو را به خواندن این سطور نکشاند اما کلمه‌ها در حافظه‌های مجازی برای همیشه ماندگار خواهند ماند، این چند خط نحیف اسمی را که هم اسم توست بر جلد کتاب لاغری نگه خواهند داشت: پدر و مادرت در غروب دلگیر و بارانی یکی از روزهای آگوست قدم به این سرزمین گذاشتند.

O dear son,

On a gloomy, rainy August evening, we set foot on this land. The airplane landed at a small airport that bore no resemblance to our notions of the advanced and glitzy West. We picked up our suitcases, filled with longing, and eventually located a quiet bus stop tucked away in a remote corner.

Traveling to foreign lands brings with it the joy of discovery—discovering the best parts of that soil: ancient ruins or museums, festivals and restaurants. But migration to that same land is full of fears—fears rooted in incapability. On the way from the airport to the hotel, I stared out the bus window at a vast, green plain so unlike the familiar landscapes of my homeland, while listening to a language in which only a few words sounded vaguely familiar. It was as if all I had learned belonged to another world. The doubt that sprouted in our hearts at the moment of departure had by then become a towering tree… Was the path we chose truly the right one?

Exhaustion twisted our bodies into the hotel bed so tightly that we forgot the fear of the next morning. And from the next day on, many hard days came—and turned into yesterdays. We learned how to fall and how to rise again. Until now, when our hearts have become full of memories of what has passed.

Today, as I write these few lines, you are sitting across from me, playing in your own little world. From here, I can see your face—your eyes not unlike mine. My hair once looked like yours, and a few of your habits are tiny inheritances from me. It’s as if I’m seeing myself in a magical mirror, returned to my youth. My scalp covered again with dark hair, and ahead of me, instead of what has passed, bright days lie in wait. What a dream…

And yet, the life that lies ahead of you is, for me, a road nearing its end. Today, as I still am—and with every day that adds to my past—there may be neither opportunity nor strength left to tell you my story. So I decided to write it down for you somewhere.

Perhaps your curious eyes will never be drawn to read these lines. But the words will live on forever in virtual memory, and these few fragile sentences will keep a name—your name—on the cover of a slender book: Your parents stepped onto this land on a gloomy, rainy August evening.

شهرآشوب، سومین دفتر از سه‌گانۀ «عجایب یاد» است، پرداخته از یک صد قطعه، ساخته شده از آذر ماه 1400 تا دی ماه 1401 خورشیدی

می‌دانیم که شهرآشوب، «یکی از انواع شعر فارسی است و تعریفی که فرهنگ‌نویسان از آن کرده‌اند چنین است: مدح و ذمی که شعرا اهل شهر را کنند. شهرانگیز نیز به معنی شهرآشوب، نظمی است که تعریف یا ذم اکثر مردم شهر در آن باشد. اما شهرآشوب یا شهرانگیز به هر نوع شعری که در توصیف پیشه‌وران یک شهر و تعریف حرفه و صنعت ایشان سروده باشد، نیز اطلاق می‌شود[..]» (لغتنامه دهخدا) همچنین «شهرآشوب نظمی است که در آن تغییر اوضاع، بی‌سامانی یا سروسامان داشتن حالات یک شهر یا مملکت و مردم آن، یاد می‌شود[…] نظمی است که اغتشاش‌ها و بی‌سامانی‌های اقتصادی یا سیاسی کشور، یا کیفیت طبقات مختلف یک شهر را به زبان هزل یا هجو یا طنز در آن بیان کنند.» (محجوب، ادبیات عامیانه ایران، 1163)

شناخته‌شده‌ترین شهرآشوب‌ها، 92 قطعه‌ای است که از مسعود سعد سلمان، درگذشته در 515 ق، به یادگار مانده است (کوچکترین قطعه در 2بیت و بزرگترین در 9بیت)

از سوی دیگر می‌دانیم شهرآشوب، دلبری فتنه‌انگیز است که چون پای در کوی و برزن نهاد، در میان مردم شهر، آشوب افکنده دل از همگان ربود. راوی «شهرآشوب» مسعود سعد، هم اوست. مه‌رویی فتنه‌انگیز در گذر بازار، بر در هر دکان، در وصف پیشه‌ور و دکان‌دار، کار و پیشۀ او، سرود و سروده‌ای می‌خواند؛ هوش از صاحب‌کار و کارگزار و کارگر می‌رباید و پیش می‌رود، از بازار در کوی و برزن، شاید با همراهی ساز، به آواز بلند، خوش؛ تا «دارالعدل» و کوی سلطانی. شاید هم بوده‌اند دوره‌گردانی که از این راه، ساز و آواز در بازار، در وصف بازاریان و پیشه‌وران، روزگار می‌گذراندند و شاعران شهرآشوب در برساختن چنین گفت‌وگوهایی ـ تغزلی یا هجوآلود و طعن‌آمیز ـ با شهر و باشندگان آن، پیشه‌وران، پیشوایان، پیش‌قراولان و… آینه‌ای برابر فرهنگ، شیوه‌های بود و داد و دهش روزگار خود نهاده‌اند، در دهان دوره‌گردان، نمایشگر تصویری از آن جامعه/جهان/روزگار، که تا با آینده همواره مانده است

Sahrasub

“Sahrasub,” the third volume in the trilogy Wonders of Memory, consists of one hundred pieces composed from Azar 1400 to Dey 1401 in the Iranian calendar (December 2021 to January 2023).

We know that Sahrasub is a form of Persian poetry. As defined by lexicographers, it refers to praise and satire composed by poets about the people of a city. The term shahr-angīz, also meaning sahrasub, denotes a type of poem that includes praise or satire of the majority of a city’s people. However, sahrasub or shahr-angīz is also used to describe poetry that details the craftspeople of a city and praises their professions and trades.

Moreover, Sahrasub is described as a poetic form that addresses transformations, disorder, or the state of order/disorder in a city or country and its people. It is a type of verse that narrates political or economic turmoil or the conditions of different social classes in a satirical or humorous tone.

The most well-known example of sahrasub poetry is a 92-piece collection by Mas‘ūd Sa‘d Salmān, who died in 515 AH (1121 CE), with the shortest piece being two lines and the longest nine.

To the sweet melody of David’s voice

My heart, like a bird, turned toward you in song

You should soften your iron-hearted soul toward me

Just as David softened iron and steel.

(Mas‘ūd Sa‘d)

On the other hand, we also know that a sahrasub is a seductive beauty who, upon stepping into the alleyways and markets, causes a stir among the people and steals everyone’s heart. The narrator of Mas‘ūd Sa‘d’s Sahrasub is this very figure—a radiant, seductive figure passing through the marketplace, stopping at every shop, reciting verses that describe the shopkeeper, the artisan, and their trades. She enchants craftsmen, employers, and workers alike as she advances through the market to the alleyways, perhaps accompanied by music and loud, beautiful song—eventually reaching the “House of Justice” and the royal quarters.

Perhaps there were traveling performers who made a living this way—singing and playing instruments in the market, praising merchants and artisans. The poets of sahrasub crafted such dialogues—romantic, satirical, and biting—with the city and its residents, artisans, leaders, and pioneers, holding up a mirror to the culture, customs, and economy of their time. These verses, placed in the mouths of such performers, portray a vivid image of that society/world/era—an image that has remained for the future.

The inspiration for the volume Sahrasub is drawn from this tradition of sahrasub-poetry in Persian literary history, composed at the station of today’s turbulent times and contemporary language.

Lead to Evil is the first novel in a connected trilogy that traces the lives of its characters through periods of change and transformation before, during, and after the Iranian Revolution. The story begins in the mid-1950s (1330s in the Iranian calendar) and extends to the late 2000s, following the turbulent lives of a group of childhood friends from an old, traditional neighborhood in southern Tehran. These friends are both witnesses to and participants in the significant social changes of their era—changes that lead each of them down a different path. Yet, their friendships and family connections remain intact up until the eve of the Revolution.

The conflicts and contradictions that arise during the Revolution are of a different nature, creating deep rifts within families and among the neighborhood friends that are not easily overcome.

Lead to Evil is a multi-layered, eventful novel featuring numerous characters, multiple narrators, and diverse narrative perspectives. Its broad temporal and spatial scope engages the reader with events spanning several decades, set against the vast social and political landscape of Tehran.

Despite its length (over 500 pages), the novel is tightly packed, with its rich human, social, and political themes interwoven into the fabric of its dynamic and varied events. Rather than relying on verbosity or elaborate descriptions, it narrates its story with the rhythm of everyday life.

دفتر الحان، برآیند بازخوانی‌های مکرر گنجینه‌های نظامی و در میان آنها گنج «خسروشیرین» است. این قطعه‌ها در مدت شش ماه، از اسفند 1399 تا شهریور 1400 ساخته و به پیروی از 30 لحن باربد، از سی قطعه پرداخته شد؛ و هر قطعه به نام یکی از نواهای باربد آراسته گردید. قطعۀ سی‌ام، «باغ شیرین» از 4 قطعۀ بهار، تابستان، خزان و زمستان ساخته شده است.

I wished to be the narrator of our lives, yours and mine, countless beings.
What has come from me to you is now part of the chain of words.

And our lives are what you and I gaze upon, as we inevitably view them as protagonists of another story from our own lives.
Thus, I have delved into tales of the past.

“Daftar-e Alhan” (Songs of Barbad) is the result of repeated readings of Nizami’s treasures, particularly the gem Khosrow and Shirin. These pieces were composed over six months, from Esfand 1399 (February-March 2021) to Shahrivar 1400 (August-September 2021), inspired by Barbad’s 30 melodies and crafted into thirty compositions, each adorned with the name of one of Barbad’s melodies. The thirtieth piece, The Sweet Garden, consists of four parts—Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter—and each part is dedicated to one of the great contemporary Iranian directors.

جلوی خانه ما یکی مرده بود

داستان‌های این مجموعه در زمان‌های مختلف نوشته شده‌اند، اما همه‌شان داستان‌های زمانه ما هستند: زمانه درد و دربدری.

داستان‌های نخست این مجموعه مال وقتی است که با بچه‌های نمایش و داستانویسی آن زمان (اوایل دهه شصت) داستان و نمایش می‌نوشتیم و می‌خواندیم.

ما همه شبیه هم بودیم: جوان، عاشق خواندن و نوشتن، تنگدست و لاغر، اما امیدوار، با چشمهایی که دودو می‌زد دنبال آزادی و عدالت، ملبس به یک اورکت گل و گشاد و پر جیب که تمام بضاعت‌مان بود. داستان‌ها و نمایشنامه‌های خودمان یا دوستانمان در جیب‌های گشاد زیر بغلش بود که دست به دست می‌کردیم. سانسور اجازه چاپ نمی‌داد.

یکسو جنگ بود و همه سو جیپ‌های گشت‌وگیر خیابانی. در این میانه ما با ترس‌ولرز می‌خواندیم و می‌نوشتیم و سیگار می‌کشیدیم، سیگار می‌کشیدیم، سیگار می‌کشیدیم و سرفه می‌کردیم. گرسنه هم که می‌شدیم یک ساندویچ می‌گرفتنم شریکی می‌خوردیم. کسی به ما کار نمی‌داد. برای کار باید از کمیته یا مسجد محل تاییدیه می‌گرفتیم که اگر آنطرف‌ها آفتابی می‌شدیم خودمان را می‌گرفتند. ما هر کدام به شیوه خودمان به زمان و زمانه نه گفته بودیم و در زندگی روزمره غرامت سنگین آن نه را می‌پرداختیم.

از انقلاب فرهنگی (اردیبهشت ۱۳۵۹) تا  نوشیدن جام زهر آتش‌بس و کشتار زندانیان سیاسی (تابستان ۱۳۶۷) دشوارترین و دردناک‌ترین سالهای زندگی نسل ما و شاید تمام نسل‌ها در تمام تاریخ ایران بود و ما را که غالبا جوانانی ۲۰ تا ۲۵ ساله بودیم یکباره مچاله و پنجاه ساله کرد. ما جوانی نکرده، پیر شدیم.

آن زمان‌ها خواندن و نوشتن مشکوک بود. ما با ترس و لرز به این کار “مشکوک” مبادرت می‌کردیم. داستان‌ها را سرپایی و هول هولکی نقد می‌کردیم و گاهی هم بر سرشان دعوا می‌کردیم.

چند داستان از داستان‌های این مجموعه مربوط به این زمان یا متأثر از آن است.

داستان‌های دیگری از این مجموعه که سال‌ها بعد در مهاجرت نوشته شده‌اند باز همچنان کم‌وبیش حال و هوای آن سال‌ها و آن دردها و ترس‌ها را دارند. ترس و درد و ناامنی در جان ما عمیقا ریشه دوانده‌اند و کنده نمی‌شوند.

این مجموعه اما از موضوعات دیگر از جمله زندگی روزمره در مهاجرت و دنیای مجازی خالی نیست. زندگی مجازی سال‌هاست که بخشی از زندگی ما شده است. چند تا از داستان‌ها چگونگیِ برخوردِ زندگیِ سنتی با دنیای مجازی را دستمایه قرار داده‌اند.

دو داستان هم به تناقضات و آشفتگی‌های زندگی در مهاجرت پرداخته‌اند.

 چند داستان دیگر این مجموعه هم داستان زندگی حاشیه‌نشینان زندگی است که تقلا می‌کنند زیر دست‌وپای یک جامعه فاسدِ اختلاس‌زده له نشوند و شرافتمندانه زندگی کنند.

The author’s note on the book:

The stories in this collection were written at different times, but they all reflect the realities of our era: an era of pain and displacement. The earlier stories in this collection come from a time when we, along with fellow theater and storytelling enthusiasts (in the early 1980s), would write and read plays and stories together.

We were all alike: young, passionate about reading and writing, poor and thin, yet hopeful, with eyes gleaming, searching for freedom and justice, clad in oversized, pocket-filled coats that held all our possessions. In the wide underarm pockets, we carried our own or our friends’ stories and plays, passing them hand to hand, since censorship wouldn’t allow them to be printed.

On one side, there was the Iran-Iraq war, and everywhere else, there were street patrol jeeps. In the midst of this, we would nervously read, write, smoke, smoke, smoke, and cough. When we got hungry, we’d share a sandwich. No one would give us work. To get a job, you needed approval from the local committee or mosque, and if we showed up around those places, we’d end up getting arrested. Each of us, in our own way, had said “no” to the authorities, and we were paying the heavy price of that “no” in our daily lives.

From the Cultural Revolution (May 1980) to the bitter poison of the ceasefire and the massacre of political prisoners (summer 1988), these were the hardest and most painful years of our lives—perhaps for all generations throughout Iranian history. We, mostly 20- to 25-year-olds, were suddenly crushed and aged fifty years. We grew old without ever having experienced youth.

Back then, reading and writing were suspicious activities. We engaged in this “suspicious” act with fear and trembling. We critiqued stories hastily, often standing up, and sometimes even fought over them. Several stories in this collection are from or influenced by that time.

Other stories, written years later in exile, still carry the mood of those years, with their pain and fears. Fear, pain, and insecurity have deeply rooted themselves in us, and they cannot be removed.

This collection, however, is not devoid of other subjects, including daily life in exile and the virtual world. The virtual life has long since become part of our existence. A few of the stories explore the interaction between traditional life and the virtual world. Two stories also delve into the contradictions and confusion of life in exile.

زینت، رمانی از وحید ضرابی نسب

این رمان کوتاه در تلفیقی تاریخی و روایتی موازی، به سال های مه‌آلود و غبارگرفته انتهای قاجار و ابتدای پهلوی نقب می‌زند و تصویر زن در ابتدای دو سده‌ی تاریخ معاصر ایران را ترسیم می‌کند، با تصویرسازی عاشقیت‌هایی نشکفته و در واژگانی کمتر تجربه‌شده. داستان زینت به درستی عنوانش عاشقانه‌ای است در نقطه صفر مرزی خیال و واقعیت؛ آنجا که بال‌های سپید رویا، له می‌شوند زیر حقیقت تلخ و زار. از دل سال‌های ابتدایی قرنی که تازه به پایان رسیده تا قلب سال‌های ابتدایی سده‌ای که تازه آغازیدن گرفته است. از ماه‌های مشوش و مغشوش پایانی احمدشاه و شروع میدان‌داری سردار سپه و از لابلای پرونده‌ای قدیمی و دختر جوانی که جرمش عاشقیت است، که نه! جرمش زن بودگی است. و روزهای اکنون و جامعه‌ای که با همه ترقی‌زدگی و تفاوت‌هایش، اما برای زنان همان است که بود؛ در این ظاهر زینتی‌تر، اما حقیقتی گزنده‌تر نهفته است.

Zinat by Vahid Zarrabi Nasab

This short novel, fusing parallel historical narratives, delves into the foggy and dusty years at the end of the Qajar era and the beginning of the Pahlavi period. It depicts the state of women at the dawn of two centuries of contemporary Iranian history, exploring unrequited loves and employing a less experienced vocabulary in its narrative. The story of Zinat, true to its title, is a romance at the boundary between fantasy and reality, where the white wings of dreams are crushed under the bitter truth. It spans from the early years of the last century to the beginnings of the new one, from the final confused months of Ahmad Shah to the onset of Sardar Sepah’s era, and from the story of an old case and a young girl whose crime is not only love, but being a woman.

Vahid Zarrabi Nasab, an Iranian writer and filmmaker based in Toronto, holds up a mirror to views on femininity in Iranian society in his latest literary work. He transports us to a segment of dusty contemporary history and women’s movements, making us realize the impact of these past years on Iran’s culture, art, and gender issues. Zarrabi Nasab has previously published several book titles on cinema, including ‘Two Screenplays with One Ticket’, ‘What Are We Talking About When We Talk About Movies’, and ‘Tarantino’s Film School’. With over 20 years of experience in journalism, he has also directed a few movies, the latest being the movie ‘Dakhmeh’.

سعید رضادوست، پژوهشگر و نویسنده و شاعر، متولد ۱۳۶۴ ایران (نیشابور) است. او دانش‌آموختۀ حقوق بوده و سال‌ها به صورت تخصصی در حوزۀ ادبیات و حقوق و مباحث میان‌رشته‌ای کوشیده و قلم زده است. تجربۀ حرفه‌ای روزنامه‌نگاری و دوتارنوازی (مکتب شمالِ خراسان) نیز موجب شده است تا او بتواند از چشم‌اندازهای گوناگون به موضوعات بنگرد و دربارۀ آن‌ها بیندیشد و بنویسد.

روزنامۀ مَلِکان: شیوۀ حکمرانی از نگاه خواجه نظام‌الملکِ طوسی(نگاه معاصر: ۱۳۹۸)، روزهای آخرِ اسفند: چیستیِ امید و واکاوی آن در شعر شفیعی‌کدکنی (نشر آسیم: ۱۴۰۰)، تصحیح، مقدمه و تعلیقات بر ترجمۀ طالبوف از پندنامۀ مارکوس اورلیوس(مانِ کتاب: ۱۴۰۲) از جمله کتاب‌های او در حوزۀ پژوهش و تحلیل می‌باشد که تاکنون چندین‌بار تجدید چاپ شده‌اند.

Saeid Rezadoust’s Citizens of September

Saeid Rezadoust, a researcher, writer, and poet, was born in 1985 in Neyshabur, Iran. A graduate in law, he has amassed years of professional experience working and writing in the fields of literature, law, and interdisciplinary topics. His background in journalism and proficiency in playing the dutar (specifically within the Khorasan North School) have equipped him with a unique perspective, enabling him to analyze and write about various issues comprehensively.

Among his contributions to the field of research and analysis are notable works such as ‘The Way of Governance from the Perspective of Khwaja Nizamul-Molk Tusi’ (published by Negah Mu’aser, 2019), ‘The Last Days of Esfand: An Analysis of Hope in the Poetry of Shafi’i Kadkani’ (published by Asim, 2021), and his editing work, including the introduction and notes on Talebov’s translation of Marcus Aurelius’ ‘Meditations’ (published by Man-e Kitab, 2023). These books have been reprinted multiple times due to their significant impact.

Before this new collection, Saeid Rezadoust had already published four collections of ghazals, showcasing his poetic prowess:

چهار تک‌گوییِ سربه‌هوا در دوازده تابلو

‌نمایش‌نامه‌ای از علی فومنی متشکل از چهار داستان که در دوازده صحنه پیش می‌روند. در ساختار این نمایش‌نامه، چهار مونولوگ در تلاش برای تبدیل شدن به دیالوگ هستند.

علی فومنی، متولدِ ۱۳۵۷، شاعر، نویسنده و کارگردانِ تئاتر است. او به بیماریِ مزمن و سختی مبتلاست که تلاش‌ها برای درمانش تا کنون بی‌نتیجه مانده؛ نامِ بیماریِ او «امید» است.

Ali Foumani, born in 1978, is a poet, writer, and theater director. He is afflicted by a chronic and challenging illness for which treatment efforts have thus far been unsuccessful. The name of his condition is “hopefulness.”

فیل‌ها به جلگه رسیدند، رمانی از کاوه اویسی

کاوه اویسی دانش‌آموخته‌ی ادبیات نمایشی، کار نویسندگی خود را از سال هفتاد و هفت با نوشتن داستان کوتاه «آرش» که برگزیده جشنواره داستان دانشجویان اصفهان شد آغاز کرد و در ادامه با ساختن فیلم کوتاه و بازی در تئاتر کار خود را ادامه داد. او در سال‌های میانی دهه‌ی هشتاد هنرجوی کارگاه‌های فیلمسازی عباس کیارستمی بود و توانست چند فیلم کوتاه بسازد و بازی کند. مجموعه‌ داستان کوتاهی شامل ده داستان از اوایل تا میانه‌ی دهه‌ی نوشته است که تا کنون منتشر نشده است. فیلم بلند «پاریس تهران» را سال ۲۰۱۷ ساخت. چند فیلمنامه‌ی بلند و نمایشنامه‌ی دیگر هم در انتهای دهه‌ی نود نوشته است که هنوز فضایی برای ارائه و ساخته شدن آن‌ها فراهم نبوده است. رمان «فیل‌ها به جلگه رسیدند» اولین رمان اوست که توسط نشر آسمانا منتشر شده است.

Elephants Reached the Plain, a novel by Kaveh Oveisi

Kaveh Oveisi, a graduate in dramatic literature, embarked on his writing journey in 1998 with the short story “Arash,” which garnered recognition at the Isfahan Students’ Story Festival. He furthered his artistic endeavors by delving into the creation of short films and contributing to theater productions. In the mid-2000s, he honed his craft through participation in Abbas Kiarostami’s prestigious filmmaking workshops, where he not only produced but also showcased his acting talent in several short films.

Despite crafting a collection of ten short stories during the early to mid-1990s, they have yet to see publication due to various constraints. Undeterred, in 2017, he demonstrated his directorial prowess with the feature film “Paris Tehran.” In the latter part of the 2010s, he dedicated his creative energy to the composition of numerous extensive screenplays and plays, unfortunately remaining unpublished and unproduced.

His literary journey culminates in the publication of his debut novel, “Elephants Reached the Plain,” by Asemana Books.

مرضیه ستوده داستان‌نویس و مترجم متولد 1336 تهران، ساکن تورنتوی کاناداست. در پی سال‌ها دو مجموعه داستان شامل بیست و هشت داستان، در ایران مجوز برای انتشار نگرفت. داستان‌هایش در نشریه‌ها و ‌سایت‌های ادبی، مورد توجه دیگر نویسندگان و منتقدین قرار گرفت و جوایزی کسب کرد. مرضیه ستوده به مدت هشت سال در کلوپ ادبی سازمان زنان انتاریو، در بخش داستان‌نویسی به صورت داوطلب، همکاری مداوم داشته است.

 ستوده در داستان‌هایش به معضلات مهاجرت، تقابل سنت و مدرنیته، تضادهای درونی و بی‌پناهی پرداخته‌ است.‌

شخصیت‌های داستان‌ها، پس از شکست‌ و سرخوردگی در تلاشند به هماهنگی با زندگی و آشتی با خود برسند و در روند مکاشفه‌ای معنوی، خواننده را به مشارکت و تأمل وامی‌دارند.

Textual Mosaic, a novel by Marzieh Sotoudeh

Marzieh Sotoudeh, a fiction writer and translator, was born in Tehran in 1957 and currently resides in Toronto, Canada. Over the years, two collections of her stories, comprising twenty-eight tales, were not permitted for publication in Iran. However, her stories gained recognition in literary publications and websites, capturing the attention of fellow writers and critics, earning awards in the process. For the past eight years, Marzieh Sotoudeh has been dedicatedly contributing to the literary club of the Ontario Women’s Organization, serving specifically in her role as a creative writing teacher, as a volunteer. In her stories, Sotoudeh explores themes such as immigration challenges, the clash between tradition and modernity, internal conflicts, and homelessness. The characters in her narratives, grappling with failure and disappointment, strive to attain harmony with life and reconciliation with themselves. Through the journey of spiritual revelation, they inspire readers to engage and reflect on their own lives.

ساکاکی از یک سو سنت شاعران دوره‌گرد ژاپنی چون سایگیو، باشو، ایکیو و ریوکان را در قرن بیستم در آسیا و در یک دهه اقامتش در آمریکا ادامه داد و از سوی دیگر این سنت و زیستِ شاعرـ‌دوره‌گردی را با جنبش‌های محیط زیستی، ضدجنگ و ضد تسلیحات هسته‌ای در دهه‌های شصت به بعد در آمریکا و آسیا در هم تنید و به آن ابعاد تازه بخشید. نانائو در پی جنگ جهانی دوم و از میانه‌ی بیست سالگی تا آخر عمر را به دوره‌گردی گذراند و دو شب در یک جا نخوابید: در حال قدم زدن در جهان در چند قاره. شعرهایش را در زیر صور فلکی، گاه در شب‌های اعتدال پاییزی، انقلاب تابستانی یا پاره‌ای اوقات در روز تولدش سروده است. و معدود مصاحبه‌هایی که با او انجام شد نیز در حین راه رفتن در جاده گرفته شده است. ساکاکی خود شعرهایش را از ژاپنی به انگلیسی برگردانده و سروده است

Rostam in the Twenty-Second Century; Novel by Abdulhussain San’atizadeh Kermani

This is an illustrated and critical edition of the first Persian modern science fiction novel, first published in 1934. In 1934, San’atizadeh Kermani published his masterpiece, “Rostam in the Twenty-Second Century.” It was initially written for and published as a feuilleton in Shafaq Surkh, a daily newspaper under the editorial guidance of Mayil Toysirkani. In this fiction, written a few years before the Second World War, the city of Zahidan in the Twenty-Second Century becomes the setting in which San’atizadeh envisions a utopian solution to his contemporary national and international challenges. These challenges include the national quest for reform in the judicial system, as well as the struggle between modern and traditional values.

عجایبِ یاد، شعر از امیر حکیمی ۱۳۹۵-۱۳۹۹

کتاب «عجایب یاد»، اثر امیر حکیمی سروده‌های شاعری‌ست که به گواه بیش از دو دهه کار و بار نویسندگی، تصحیح و بازیابی متون، و مقالات متعددی که نوشته است، کاوشگر فعال تاریخ شعر، و تاریخ معاصر ایران، است. او به بازیابی و تقویت سنت‌های متعدد و زیبایی‌شناسی‌های به حاشیه رانده‌شده‌ی شعر ایران پرداخته و همچنین به کاوش در شیوه‌های مختلف سرکوب و راه‌های بازیابی صداهای تجددپرور در ایران معاصر اقدام کرده است. در ادامه این کوشش‌ها، اثر اخیر او «عجایب یاد»، تجربه‌ای چشمگیر در ایجاد گفتگو بین شعر و تاریخ به عنوان دو ژانر نوشتاری و کوششی برای ساختن شعر در زمینه‌ای تاریخی، با دیدی تاریخی و در گفتگو با متون تاریخی‌ست. نویسنده به سنت‌های شعری که با انها گفتگو می‌کند، و یا از گفتگو با انها می‌پرهیزد آگاه است. «عجایب یاد» موضوع‌های متعددی را هم در سطح اجرای شعر تاریخی و هم در سطح نقد آن به پیش می‌آورد: رابطه روایت با شعر چیست؟ رابطه روایت با تاریخ چیست؟ تاریخِ زبان چگونه در شعر تاریخی بروز می‌یابد؟ آیا می‌توان شعر تاریخی را به گونه‌ای نوشت که به کوتاه‌شدگی تاریخی منجر نشود؟ آیا شعر تاریخی لاجرم به برساختن فراروایت‌هایی در شعر منجر می‌شود؟ آیا شعر می‌تواند به شناخت تاریخی ما از احساسات شاعرانه و دلنگرانی‌های انسانی یاری برساند؟ آیا شعر می‌تواند تاریخ حواس ما را مستند کند؟ مثل موزه‌ای که تاریخ درد یا فریادهای تجدد را حفظ و منتقل می‌کند؟

Galaxy Has No Memory of the Sunset; Poems by Mahdi Ganjavi

This book covers Ganjavi’s poetic experiences over a period of ten years, between 2011 and 2021. The narrative begins with the sudden death of Nima Rozbahani, a subversive underground singer. The poems unfold against the backdrop of the poet’s time, marked by the tremors and confusion of the senses caused by immigrating to Canada and encounters with the Iranian diaspora, as well as the suppression of social and political movements. These external forces either disrupted or propelled his dreams toward him.

انتظار خواب از یک آدم نامعقول؛ مجموعه داستان کم از مهدی گنجوی

مهدی گنجوی داستان‌نویس، و پژوهشگر ساکن تورنتو است. گنجوی مدخل «بیژن الهی» را برای دایره المعارف ایرانیکا نوشته است. یکی دیگر از زمینه‌‌های فعالیت های او ویرایش و احیای آثار ادبی پس از مشروطه است. تاکنون ویرایش او از شش اثر عبدالحسین‌ صنعتی‌زاده، از جمله «رستم در قرن بیست و دوم» و «مجمع دیوانگان»، و همچنین رمان «صادق ممقلی، شرلوک هلمس ایران، داروغه اصفهان» اثر کاظم مستعان السلطان به چاپ رسیده. آخرین دستاورد او تصحیح و انتشار «ترجمه هِنریه» به قلم محمد باقر خراسانی بزنجردی، قدیمی‌ترین ترجمه هزارو‌یک شب به فارسی است. اولین مجموعه داستان گنجوی با عنوان «آموزش پارانویا» در سال ۱۳۹۱ منتشر شده است. «انتظار خواب از یک آدم نامعقول» دومین کتاب داستانی او و شامل مجموعه ۷۹ داستانک است که در طی هشت سال به تدریج پدید آمده اند

Expectation of a Dream, A Collection of Minimalist Experimental Stories by Mahdi Ganjavi

Over the past seven years, Ganjavi has undertaken the editing and publication of six lesser-known Persian novels dating from the 1920s to the 1940s. These novels provide valuable insights into the origins of historical and utopian fiction, science fiction, and detective fiction within the Persian literary tradition. Recently, Ganjavi has successfully completed the first critical edition of “Henriyah Translation” (tarjumah hinrīyah), which represents the earliest Persian translation of “One Thousand and One Nights” (Maniahonar, 2022). The first collection of Ganjavi’s stories, titled “Educating Paranoia,” was published electronically in 2012. “Expectations of a Dream” is his second book of fiction and includes a collection of 79 flash stories that have gradually emerged over the course of eight years.
