«خانهای که میسوزد» اثری روانکاوانه با زمینۀ تاریخی اجتماعی است که با نگاهی انسانی و واقعگرایانه به فروپاشی درونی یک خانواده ایرانی در آستانه مهاجرت میپردازد.
داستان رمان ماجرای زندگی بهرام، مردی سالخورده است که پس از سالها زندگی پرتنش با همسرش اقدس، در واپسین دم، بر آن میشود همراه خانوادهاش به کانادا نرود.
خانه، که در نگاه نخست پناهگاه و یادگار سالها زندگی مشترک است، به نماد وطن و خاطره بدل میشود؛ مکانی که در آن عشق، نفرت، قدرت و شکست در هم تنیدهاند.
نویسنده در روایت رمان خود با بهرهمندی از راوی مرکب ـ بهرام، اقدس، رحیم (خدمتکار جوان خانه) و آناهیتا (دختر خانواده در کانادا) و آرش (پسر خانواده فقط در یک فصل) ـ با نگاه از زوایای گوناگون به ماجرای زندگی شخصیتهای خود، از رمان خود یک اثر چندصدایی تاملبرانگیز میآفریند و خوانندۀ خود را به تفکر ژرفتر به موضوع اثر خود وامیدارد؛ و اینگونه و از لابهلای گفتوگوها و ذهنیتهای شخصیتها، خانوادهای را به نمایش میگذارد که در رنج رفتن و ماندن میسوزد.
اوج داستان با فاجعه انفجار هواپیمای اوکراین ps 752 که خانواده در آن است به دست سپاه پاسداران، مرگی نمادین و تکاندهنده را رقم میزند؛ خانه و ریشههایی که در آتش این فاجعه میسوزد و نابود میشود.
«خانهای که میسوزد» تأملی است بر مهاجرت و معنای زیستن در جهانی که در آن «رفتن» همیشه آسانتر از «ماندن» است. اثری که با نگاهی فلسفی و انسانی، خانه را به استعارهای از وجود انسان بدل میسازد.
روایتی انسانی و تکاندهنده از ماندن، مهاجرت و زوال؛ داستان مردی که از رفتن سرباز میزند، اما در ماندنش نیز نجاتی نیست.

The House That Is Burning is a psychoanalytic novel set against a socio-historical backdrop, offering a humane and realistic portrayal of the inner collapse of an Iranian family on the brink of emigration.
The story centers on Bahram, an aging man who, after years of a turbulent marriage with his wife Aghdas, decides at the very last moment not to accompany his family to Canada.
The house—at first glance a refuge and a relic of years of shared life—becomes a symbol of homeland and memory, a place where love, hatred, power, and defeat are intricately intertwined.
In narrating the novel, the author employs a composite narration—through Bahram, Aghdas, Rahim (the young house servant), Anahita (the family’s daughter in Canada), and Arash (the son, appearing in only one chapter). By presenting the characters’ lives from multiple perspectives, the novel becomes a thought-provoking polyphonic work that invites the reader to reflect more deeply on its themes. Through the characters’ dialogues and inner monologues, it portrays a family burning in the anguish of leaving and staying.
The climax of the story unfolds with the tragic downing of Ukrainian Airlines Flight PS752, on which the family is traveling, shot down by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—an event that brings about a symbolic and devastating death: a home and its roots consumed and destroyed in the fire of catastrophe.
The House That Is Burning is a meditation on migration and the meaning of living in a world where “leaving” is always easier than “staying.” With a philosophical and humanistic lens, it transforms the house into a metaphor for human existence.
A moving and deeply human narrative of staying, migration, and decline—the story of a man who refuses to leave, yet finds no salvation in staying.
رعنا سلیمانی
رعنا سلیمانی نویسندهای ساکن استکهلم است. او در مارس ۱۹۷۶ در تهران متولد شد و در دانشگاه تهران در رشتهٔ اقتصاد تحصیل کرد. از سال ۲۰۱۵ در سوئد اقامت دارد و عضو انجمن نویسندگان در تبعید و همچنین اتحادیه نویسندگان سوئد است.
سلیمانی پیشتر مجموعه داستانی با عنوان «لورکا در خیابان فرشته» منتشر کرده است که داستان «هرتا» از آن، یکی از معتبرترین جوایز ادبی ایران را از آن خود کرد. او همچنین رمان «سندروم اولیس» را در لندن منتشر کرده است.
رمان «زنده باد زندگی» که به زندگی چهار زن زندانی میپردازد، در سالهای ۲۰۲۱ و ۲۰۲۲ به یکی از پرفروشترین کتابهای فارسیزبان خارج از ایران تبدیل شد. اثر دیگر او با عنوان «یک روز با هفتهزارسالهها» برگرفته از ابیاتی از عمر خیام است.
Rana Soleimani
Rana Soleimani is a writer based in Stockholm. Born in March 1976 in Tehran, she studied economics at the University of Tehran. Since 2015, she has been residing in Sweden and is a member of the Writers in Exile Association as well as the Swedish Writers’ Union.
Soleimani previously published the short story collection Lorca in Khiaban-e Fereshteh, from which the story Herta won one of Iran’s most prestigious literary awards. She has also published the novel Ulysses Syndrome in London.
Her novel Long Live Life, which revolves around the lives of four imprisoned women, became one of the best-selling Persian-language books outside Iran in 2021 and 2022. Another of her works, A Day with the Seven-Thousand-Year-Olds, takes its title from verses by Omar Khayyam.
